Recently, while conversing with a particular member of my
electronic mail ministry, the conversation turned to the
topic of world-renowned American evangelist, the Reverend
Billy Graham. Over the years, Mr. Graham has been known for
drawing literally thousands upon thousands of people to his
evangelical conventions worldwide; and millions more have
either heard him, or watched him, via various electronic
media. I recall that as a young Christian boy a number of
decades ago, I was greatly impressed by those events which
were broadcast nationwide on American television. Perhaps it
was partially due to Graham's televised conventions, that in
later years, I also dedicated my life to the Lord.

From that time until now, due to the course which my own
life has taken, I have paid very little attention to the
ministry of Mr. Graham; or even to the ministries of other
well-known American preachers. Other than being familiar
with some of their names, I know very little about most of
these radio and television evangelists. If I were to make a
general statement, it would be that while I feel that some
of these men are probably doing a lot of good for the
Kingdom of God, others have become too distracted by the
lights, cameras, big money and politics; they have become
too worldly, too commercial, and too political in their
evangelical approach.

As the regular readers of my articles are aware, my views
concerning participation in secular politics are rather
different from those of other more worldly preachers. As I
explain in my various political discourses, my belief is
that as Christians, the Lord has called us out from the
world; and told us not to touch the unclean thing. We are
not to associate ourselves with, or to mingle with the
unbelievers of the world any more than is absolutely
necessary in order to get the job done; and that job is
primarily to win souls to Jesus Christ. Consider the
following verses on this topic:

"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but
because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out
of the world, therefore the world hateth you."
(John 15:19)

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for
what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and
what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord
hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth
with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God
with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God
hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I
will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore
come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the
Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive
you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons
and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."
(2 Corinthians 6:14-18)

"Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the
friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever
therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of
God." (James 4:4)

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the
world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is
not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the
flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is
not of the Father, but is of the world." (1 John 2:15-16)

It seems to me that some of these American evangelists have
done the exact opposite. They have gone too far to the
extreme in their attempt to win souls to Christ; even to the
point of compromise. Some of them seem to think that by
becoming involved in worldly affairs, and by associating
themselves with certain politicians, and even by running for
political office themselves, that they can change the
American political system from the inside. It just isn't
going to happen. That isn't what the Bible predicts by any
means. I have clearly shown in my Endtime articles how the
present governmental systems of wicked man's rule upon the
Earth will continue to become more corrupt, until they will
finally be destroyed and swept out of the way, in order to
make room for the Everlasting Kingdom of God upon Earth. The
Kingdom of God will indeed come, exactly as Jesus prayed
that it would, but it won't be by human design, making or
endeavors. Consider the following verses which support these

"Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands,
which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and
clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay,
the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces
together, and became like the chaff of the summer
threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no
place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image
became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth...And in
the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a
kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom
shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in
pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand
for ever." (Daniel 2:34-35, 44)

"And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but
on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder."
(Matthew 21:44)

"And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank
of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was
Christ." (1 Corinthians 10:4)

Instead of these evangelists changing the Government of the
United States of America, it seems to me that the rotten
spirit of modern American politics is overcoming and
corrupting some of them instead. Just like the Scribes and
the Pharisees of old, some of these charismatic television
and stadium preachers compromise their message, and become
more concerned with the opinions of men, instead of being
faithful to the full true message of Jesus Christ, and
pleasing God first. In other words, they become manpleasers
instead of God pleasers. They tone down their message and
lose their spiritual effectiveness. They are overcome by the
very same worldly spirit against which they fought when they
first began their battle in the spirit. There can be no
compromise here. There are no neutrals. Either we overcome,
or else we are overcome. Consider these verses:

"Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to
obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin
unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"
(Romans 6:16)

"While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the
servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of
the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have
escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of
the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled
therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them
than the beginning." (2 Peter 2:19-20)

"Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."
(Romans 12:21)

"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them:
because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the
world." (1 John 4:4)

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might
have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be
of good cheer; I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)

I also discuss this topic of being overcome in the series
'Have You Been Slain In The Spirit?'. As the Lord Himself
said in the above verse, because He has chosen us out of the
world, the world hates us. It doesn't like us; it doesn't
love us; it doesn't accept us; it hates us. As I point out
in 'Civil Disobedience And Christian Persecution', Jesus,
Paul and others told us that if we remain true to the Gospel
message, we will be hated, persecuted, and possibly even
killed. We won't become rich, powerful and popular like some
of these modern evangelists who hobnob with high society and
preach a watered down gospel of compromise. If these people
aren't suffering and being ridiculed and persecuted for
their Christian beliefs, somewhere by someone, then perhaps
there is something wrong with their message. If they are
being fully embraced by the anti-christ political system of
the Government of United States of America, then perhaps
there is something wrong with their message. As we saw
earlier, there can be no communion, or fellowship, between
Light and Darkness. Consider what the Apostle Paul wrote:

"Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall
suffer persecution." (2 Timothy 3:12)

The ungodly people of the world do not like those who live
godly lives dedicated to the Lord. If we are full of God's
Truth through the knowledge of His Word, then as Jesus said,
we will be similar to bright lights which shine on the
darkest recesses of their lives. Their sins will be exposed
through the words that we speak, and especially through the
godly lives that we live; and they will hate us for it. Once
we come to the Light, we are of the Light, and can no longer
walk in Darkness, but must do the works of Light to show
that we are truly the children of Light. Consider the
following verses:

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an
hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put
it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light
unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine
before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify
your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16)

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the
world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because
their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth
the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds
should be reproved." (John 3:19-20)

"Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not
greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will
also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will
keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you
for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had
sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin."
(John 15:20-22)

"This then is the message which we have heard of him, and
declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no
darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him,
and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if
we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ
his Son cleanseth us from all sin." (1 John 1:5-7)

"For ye were sometime darkness, but now are ye light in the
Lord: walk as children of light;...And have no fellowship
with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove
them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which
are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved
are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make
manifest is light." (Ephesians 5:8, 11-13)

I also discuss this topic of Light and Darkness in the
article 'The Children Of Light: Are You One Of Us?'. I
highly recommend it as I believe it will be an inspiration
to your heart.

This now brings us to the main points of this particular
article. During my conversation with this person, one issue
which was brought up was the claim that Billy Graham is a
thirty-third degree Mason. This charge is based upon a
purported list of famous Masonic members which is said to
have been posted on a Masonic lodge web site in the state of
Louisiana, U.S.A. While Mr. Graham has vehemently denied
this claim, there are those who insist that he is simply
lying and trying to cover his tracks. If there is any truth
to this matter, and I don't know that there is, it is indeed
deplorable; because the Reverend Graham is supposed to be a
representative of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. While I
personally do not know very much about the Masons, from what
I have read, as well as from what I have been told by others
who either participated in this organization at one time, or
who knew others who did, there are some very sinister
beliefs and practices associated with this organization
which are very non-Christian in nature.

So again, if there is any truth to this charge concerning
Mr. Graham being a high-level member of this organization,
it is indeed sad; because many people worldwide have placed
their utmost trust in his words as a representative of Jesus
Christ. If he really is a thirty-third degree Mason despite
his own denial of this fact, then no doubt he will some day
be held accountable for his dishonesty; for as the Lord, the
Apostle Paul and others tell us, we will all give an account
for ourselves and our actions when we stand before the
judgment seat of Christ:

"But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall
speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of
judgment." (Matthew 12:36)

"But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set
at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the
judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith
the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall
confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account
of himself to God." (Romans 14:10-12)

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ;
that every one may receive the things done in his body,
according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad."
(2 Corinthians 5:10)

As my readers know, I try not to make it a habit of judging
or criticizing fellow Christian evangelists. As I already
mentioned, I normally don't even pay attention to them. They
each have their ministries, and I have mine; however, when
the Lord sees fit to put a certain situation in front of me,
I believe that it is for a good reason; and I feel obligated
due to my personal conviction to uphold the Truth of His
Word, to expose whatever lie or delusion is being propagated
by said person. Allow me to make clear that when the Lord
does move me in this direction, my entire goal is to expose
the doctrinal error which I believe is leading the Lord's
precious sheep astray; and not so much to attack the person
espousing the erroneous belief. As I have pointed out
before, none of us, myself included, possesses a perfect
understanding of God's Word. We are all striving for the
unity which the Apostle Paul mentions in his first Epistle
to the Corinthian church:

"Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be
no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined
together in the same mind and in the same judgment."
(1 Corinthians 1:10)

As much as we modern Christians would like to achieve Paul's
goal, it seems that as each day passes, we become more and
more divided in our understanding of the Word of the Lord.
Doctrinally-speaking, the Christian Body is probably more
divided today than it has ever been before. It is nothing
short of amazing how many different churches, denominations,
organizations and doctrines have evolved from the teachings
of One Man and His twelve followers almost two thousand
years ago. On the other hand, as I have explained in other
articles such as 'Exposing The Tactics Of The Enemy', this
has all occurred by design; because since the Christian
Church came into being, Satan, and his human pawns, have
been bent on destroying it by any and every means possible.
One of the ways he does this is by sending his emissaries,
his false teachers and preachers, amongst the flocks of God,
in order to deceive the Elect. We all need to remmember that
we can all be deceived if we are not careful. We need to
constantly remind ourselves of the many warnings found
throughout the New Testament, such as the following:

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's
clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall
know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns,
or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth
good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A
good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a
corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that
bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into
the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."
(Matthew 7:15-20)

"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets,
and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it
were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."
(Matthew 24:24)

"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers,
transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no
marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of
light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also
be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end
shall be according to their works."
(2 Corinthians 11:13-15)

"But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse,
deceiving, and being deceived.:" (2 Timothy 3:13)

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound
doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to
themselves teachers, having itching ears;"
(2 Timothy 4:3)

"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits
whether they are of God: because many false prophets are
gone out into the world." (1 John 4:1)

Exactly what is the method of division used by these false
teachers who enter amongst the flocks of the Lord? It is the
deceptive doctrines that they bring with them. Yes, in some
cases, they will quote from the Bible just like you and I;
but they will pervert the meanings of the Scriptures in
order to draw people away from the True Gospel of Jesus
Christ. They will also mix the Scriptures with secular
humanist ideas, oriental philosophies and New Age thought.
Let me again remind you that after the Lord had spent forty
days fasting in the wilderness of the Jordan River Valley,
Satan also tempted Him; and when he did so, he quoted the
Word of God. He said 'It is written'; but then he added his
own twist to the verses he was quoting. Peter clearly tells
us that some day, these people will be destroyed because of
their perversion of the Scriptures:

"As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these
things; in which are some things hard to be understood,
which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do
also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction."
(2 Peter 3:16)

Just as Jesus warned His followers to beware of the leaven,
or the doctrine, of the Scribes and the Pharisees of His
day, we too must be extremely careful concerning the many
deceptive doctrines being espoused by these modern false
angels of light. Consider the following verses:

"Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of
the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees
and of the Sadducees." (Matthew 16:12)

"That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro,
and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the
sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in
wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up
into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:"
(Ephesians 4:14-15)

"Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For
it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace;
not with meats, which have not profited them that have been
occupied therein." (Hebrews 13:9)

"As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went
into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they
teach no other doctrine, Neither give heed to fables and
endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than
godly edifying which is in faith: so do."
(1 Timothy 1:3-4)

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times
some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing
spirits, and doctrines of devils;" (1 Timothy 4:1)

"But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that
they do gender strifes." (2 Timothy 2:23)

"But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and
contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are
unprofitable and vain." (Titus 3:9)

Not only was this current age of Apostasy, or falling away
from the Truth, predicted in the Bible, but we are told that
the Lord would purposely allow it to happen, because people
would simply no longer want to hear the Truth; they would
purposely want to be deceived by the lies of Satan and his
workers of darkness. These ideas are made clear by the
following verses:

"Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That
ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by
spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the
day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any
means: for that day shall not come, except there come a
falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son
of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all
that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God
sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is
God." (2 Thessalonians 2:1-4)

"... because they received not the love of the truth, that
they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them
strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:"
(2 Thessalonians 2:10b-11)

"I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their
fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer;
when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before
mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not."
(Isaiah 66:4)

Exactly how do the Scriptures advise us to respond to those
who, after several warnings, continue to preach their
deceptive doctrines? Both Jesus and His followers clearly
told us that we are to avoid them, and to have nothing to do
with them:

"And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the
church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be
unto thee as an heathen man and a publican."
(Matthew 18:17)

"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause
divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye
have learned; and avoid them." (Romans 16:17)

"If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome
words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the
doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud,
knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of
words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil
surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and
destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness:
from such withdraw thyself." (1 Timothy 6:3-5)

"But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and
contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are
unprofitable and vain. A man that is an heretick after the
first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is
such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself."
(Titus 3:9-11)

"Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of
Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of
Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come
any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not
into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that
biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds."
(2 John 1:9-11)

At this point, I would like to turn again to the electronic
conversation I was having with one of my readers. While the
idea of evangelist Billy Graham possibly being associated
with the Masons is alarming, it was really the additional
information provided by this reader which prompted me to
write this current article. According to my reader, on May
31, 1997, the Reverend Robert Schuller, of the Crystal
Cathedral Church, interviewed Billy Graham on his, that is,
Schuller's, worldwide television program. My reader informed
me that both video and audio tapes of this broadcast are
available through Reverend Schuller's church. Following is
an excerpt from that broadcast:

----- Begin Quote -----

Robert Schuller: "Tell me, what do you think of the future
of Christianity?"

Billy Graham: "I think everybody who knows Christ, whether
they're conscious of it or not, they're members of the Body
of Christ...God's purpose is to call out a people for His
name, whether they come from the Muslim world, Buddhist
world, the Christian world, or the non-believing world, they
are members of the Body of Christ, because they've been
called by God. They may not even know the name of Jesus...
and I think they are saved and that they are going to be in
heaven with us."

----- End Of Quote -----

If this is indeed what Mr. Graham said during the broadcast,
then in my view, there is indeed good cause for alarm. While
his statements may seem innocuous at first, they carry a lot
of subtle delusion. While at first glance it appears that
Graham might be suggesting that the Lord has called out His
children from these different religious and non-religious
backgrounds, in order that they might come to know and to
accept Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour, the remainder
of his statement does not seem to uphold this idea. Before
analyzing Mr. Graham's statements, I do want to point out
that we should not become too technical or legalistic in
regards to the name of 'Jesus'; as that is merely our
English transliteration of His Name. In Hebrew He is Yeshua;
in Greek He is Iesous; and in many other languages of the
world, He is known by different names. Regardless of which
language is being used, all true Christians know that we are
referring to the one and the same Son of God who died for
the sins of the world.

Having established the previous point, in my view, Reverend
Graham's idea of not consciously knowing Christ, and simply
being a part of the Body of Christ because one has been
called by God, is a dangerous half-truth. On the side of
Truth, as I point out in several other articles, God does
indeed know those who are His. This is clearly supported by
Scriptures such as the following taken from Paul's second
Epistle to Timothy:

"Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having
this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let
every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from
iniquity." (2 Timothy 2:19)

The first half of this verse touches on a topic which I
discuss in other articles; and that is the theme of our
being predestined, or foreordained, to Salvation since the
foundation of the world. Being as the Lord is not bound by
time and space; and because He is all-knowing, He already
knows that at His appointed time, we are each going to
choose Him. While this may not occur until a certain point
in our physical lifetime, in the Lord's Eyes it is already
counted as being done. As we are told in the Book of the
Prophet Isaiah:

"Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there
is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring
the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the
things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall
stand, and I will do all my pleasure:" (Isaiah 46:9-10)

In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul discussed Divine
Predestination in several of his Epistles. Consider the
following verses written to the churches at Rome and

"And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called according
to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did
predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son,
that he might be the firstborn among many brethren."
(Romans 8:28-29)

"Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children
by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good
pleasure of his will," (Ephesians 1:5)

"In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being
predestinated according to the purpose of him who
worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:"
(Ephesians 1:11)

Clearly then, Divine Predestination is indeed a Scriptural
doctrine. Notice though what Paul states in the second half
of that verse in his Epistle to Timothy. He says 'Let every
one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity'.
While God has indeed chosen us, and while we may not be
conscious of it at first, there does indeed come a time
when we must name the Name of Christ as our Saviour. That
word 'nameth' is a very precise translation. It is derived
from the Greek word 'onomazo', pronounced on-om-ad'-zo,
which means to name, to utter or to make mention of a name.
In other words, it is a conscious verbal act. I point out
this very same fact in the article 'To Pray Or Not To Pray?
That Is The Question', as well as in the series 'Is Jesus
The Only Begotten Son Of God?'. Verbal confession is
clearly, and very necessarily, a part of our Salvation.
Again, this is a very sound Scriptural doctrine which is
supported by verses such as the following:

"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith,
Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the
world...And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of
God...And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold
the Lamb of God!" (John 1:29, 34, 36)

"...Of a truth thou art the Son of God." (Matthew 14:33b)

"...Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And
Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon
Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee,
but my Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 16:16b-17)

"...Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of
Israel." (John 1:49b)

"...Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son
of God, which should come into the world." (John 11:27b)

"Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had
found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of
God? He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might
believe on him? And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen
him, and it is he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord,
I believe. And he worshipped him." (John 9:35-38)

"Now when the centurion, and they that were with him,
watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that
were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the
Son of God." (Matthew 27:54)

"...I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
(Acts 8:37b)

"And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that
he is the Son of God." (Acts 9:20)

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession
is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10)

"Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God
dwelleth in him, and he in God." (1 John 4:15)

There should be no doubt then that, contrary to what is
apparently being espoused by Billy Graham, our Salvation is
a very conscious act. While we are indeed saved by the Grace
of God through the precious Blood of Jesus Christ on the
Cross, we must acknowledge our sinful state, confess our
need for a Saviour, and openly and verbally accept Jesus
Christ as that Saviour. It is not some mysterious mystical
thing which happens without our being aware of it. We are
not just automatically brought into the Body of Christ
without our knowledge or personal choosing. Such an idea is
totally contrary to all of the verses I have just shared.
How can one be a member of the Body of Christ if he does not
even consciously acknowledge and recognize the Head of that
Body of which Billy Graham erroneously claims that person is
a part? Notice what Paul states in his Epistle to the

"For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is
the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body."
(Ephesians 5:23)

The Apostle John clearly wrote that we are to know who our
Saviour is. We are to be sure of from whence our Salvation
comes. It is not some nebulous unconscious decision made by
God alone. Yes, He has chosen us from the foundation of the
world; but as I already said, I believe it is because He
already knows that we will someday choose Him according to
His Perfect Will and Plan. In other words, personal choice
is indeed involved in our Salvation. As John wrote, we must
choose to believe in Christ in order to obtain Eternal Life.
Please consider the following verses:

"But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is
the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have
life through his name." (John 20:31)

"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name
of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life,
and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
(1 John 5:13)

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none
other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be
saved." (Acts 4:12)

"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou
shalt be saved, and thy house." (Acts 16:31)

Based upon all of this Scriptural evidence, I firmly believe
that Billy Graham's statements, if accurately relayed to me,
are indeed dangerous and misleading. They are not Scriptural
Truth whatsoever. They give the false impression, and very
clearly so, that Mr. Graham is stating that if one does not
consciously know Christ, or even know His Name, that he can
still be saved, simply because God has called him. For the
sake of emphasis, Reverend Graham stated 'I think everybody
who knows Christ, whether they're conscious of it or not,
they're members of the Body of Christ...They may not even
know the name of Jesus... and I think they are saved and
that they are going to be in heaven with us."

What utter nonsense! How can you possibly know Jesus Christ
and not be conscious of it? How can you be a part of the
Body of Christ if you don't even consciously know the Head?
Non-English speaking people may not know the exact name of
'Jesus' in our English language, but they will know it in
their native language; and they will know of the Sacrifice
that He made for all men everywhere. As our Lord said

"And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men
unto me." (John 12:32).

That is a conscious drawing together of His fold through
faith in His Name. It is not some subconscious knowing. It
is very conscious, and it is very physical. Sooner or later,
either in this life, or at the Judgment Seat of Christ,
every knee shall bow, both metaphorically, and physically,
at the name of Jesus Christ. Everyone will know what they
are doing:

"For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee
shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God."
(Romans 14:11)

"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a
name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus
every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in
earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue
should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of
God the Father." (Philippians 2:9-11)

In the final half of this article, I will continue the
discussion on Billy Graham, as well as discuss such topics
as the anti-God Jews, Jesus as the Only Way to Salvation,
the Father-Son package deal, God's pointer in Creation, true
doctrinal unity and false ecumenism, the one true doctrine
of Jesus Christ, restoring those who have fallen into
doctrinal error, the grave responsibility of Bible teachers,
and doctrinal stumbling blocks. We still have a lot of area
to cover, so I trust that you will join me.
