The word 'sanctification' is derived from the Greek word 'hagiasmos' which means consecration or purification. Sanctification refers to the process of being made holy through our acceptance of the Word of Truth found in the Gospel, which results in our being cleansed and purified from our sins by the atoning Blood of Jesus Christ. This is why the Lord said: "Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you." John 15:3, KJV It is also for this reason that the Lord said through the Prophet Isaiah: "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Isaiah 1:18, KJV For more details, ask me about 'saint' and 'sanctify'.
