In the New Testament, the word 'redemption' is derived from the Greek word 'apolutrosis' which means a releasing from debt effected by the payment of a ransom. As the Apostle Paul tells us, the forgiveness of our sins, and the redemption of our bodies from eternal death, only comes through the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who paid the ransom price for us with His own body hung on the Cross: "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;" Ephesians 1:7, KJV And also: "Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." Hebrews 9:12, KJV This is why Jesus clearly said: "Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." Matthew 20:28, KJV For a more in-depth look at this topic, please download such articles as 'Is Jesus The Only Begotten Son Of God?', 'The Born-Again Experience: Now Or Later?' and 'The Blood Atonement: In Jesus' Own Words'.
