While Divine Chastisement, or Punishment, can sometimes be hard on us, as the Lord's children, we all need to realize that whatever God does, He does in love as a wise Heavenly Father. As King Solomon was inspired to write: "Open rebuke is better than secret love." Proverbs 27:5, KJV As the Apostle Paul also tells us, God deals with us in love, as His beloved sons, and not as bastards; and that if we patiently endure the Lord's chastisements in our lives, it will hopefully bring forth positive fruit in the end: "And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons...Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed." Hebrews 12:5-8, 11-13, KJV
