In the Bible, the closest thing which may be described as a dinosaur, is the mysterious creature, leviathan. The word 'leviathan' is found in the following verses in the Bible: "Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?" Job 41:1, KJV And also: "Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness." Psalms 74:14, KJV And also: "There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein." Psalms 104:26, KJV And finally: "In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea." Isaiah 27:1, KJV While some people have erroneously interpreted these verses to mean a crocodile, they clearly describe some kind of a fire-breathing sea monster. Whether or not these verses are meant to be understood literally is difficult to say. For one interesting perspective, please refer to the WordWeaver's articles 'Leviathan: An Ancient Sea Dragon?' and 'The Dinosaur Dilemma And Modern Science'. Please also ask me about dragons.
