Endtime Prophecy Net - Bible Tidbits

In his first Epistle to Timothy, the Apostle Paul wrote: "Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities." 1 Timothy 5:23, KJV While this may be good advice, the truth of the matter is that today, the world has gone completely overboard in its consumption of beer, wine and other strong drinks. While Paul's advice was to drink a little for our health, King Solomon's advice seems to be much more fitting for this modern day when he says: "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise." Proverbs 20:1, KJV Not only is alcoholism extremely dangerous to one's own health and life, causing acute damage to the brain, liver and other body organs, but it causes us to become a danger to others as well, due to extreme fits of violence, and the inability to judge situations properly. In other words, just like drug addiction, alcoholism robs us of our sound mind, which is contrary to God's Word, as we see here: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7, KJV
