Endtime Prophecy Net - Bible Tidbits

According to Biblical and historical records, Herod Antipas was the son of Herod the Great. After the death of his father, Antipas was appointed tetrarch of Galilee and Peraea by the Romans. His Biblical fame arises from the fact that he married the wife of his brother Philip, while Philip was still alive. John the Baptist rebuked Herod for this, and was thus cast into prison by the same. At the insistence of Herodias, the illegal wife of Antipas, John was eventually beheaded.
