The 'Easter Rabbit' tradition, and in fact, Easter itself, finds its origin in an ancient pagan holiday which was Christianized by the early Roman Catholic Church fathers. Like many other pagan holidays which were absorbed by the RCC, this was done in order to appease the pagan masses, while at the same time, bringing them under the power and umbrella of the Roman Catholic Church. Easter was actually a holiday to worship the pagan goddess of fertility, Ishtar, also known by other names such as Ashtoreth, Ashtar, Astarte, etc. It is easy to see the similarities between these names and the word 'Easter'. It is for this reason that eggs and rabbits, which are symbols of fertility, are now a part of the Christianized Easter holiday. How sad that young children are taught by their ignorant parents to believe in a silly 'Easter Bunny', and to act like pagans by hunting for Easter eggs, instead of remembering the blessed Resurrection of our dear Saviour, Jesus Christ! As the Scriptures tell us: "And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him." Mark 16:6, KJV
