It is another sad day for the U.S.A. In an op-ed piece in The Washington Post, former U.S. President Bill Clinton threw his political weight behind efforts to convince the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act -- or DOMA -- which he himself signed into law in 1996. As you may recall, for federal purposes, DOMA establishes marriage as a union between a man and a woman only.
In his op-ed piece, liberal Mr. Clinton now claims that while he was opposed to DOMA, nevertheless, he was politically-motivated to sign it, lest he lose the opportunity to win a second term in office. Clinton also now states that he views DOMA as being both unconstitutional and discriminatory.
Clearly, there is a very powerful effort to put pressure on the nine justices of the Supreme Court, who will be making decisions regarding Proposition 8 in California, and DOMA, in only a few week's time.
With the Obama administration, Clinton, and other political heavyweights voicing their support to legalize same-sex "marriage", as I have stated before, I sense that it is no longer a question of if it will occur, but simply of how soon it will occur. With a majority of liberal young Americans in support of same-sex "marriage", it is evident that the time is counting down much quicker than before.
Here is what God's Word has to say regarding this issue:
