An interesting thought occurred to me a few minutes ago while I was in a kitchen. I am sure that I have shared this thought with my readers before -- well, at least part of it -- perhaps in the three-part series entitled "Are You Just a Baby Huey?".
Anyway, what occurred to me is the following:
There comes a point in many Christians' lives when they allow the doctrines of their church, denomination, organization, or whatever, to override the doctrines which are actually taught in the Bible. Slowly and surely, and perhaps without even realizing it, the teachings of Christ and His Apostles are replaced by the erroneous traditions of men. In fact, this is one of the issues which I also briefly discuss in my in-depth series "Revelation's Babylon the Great", which is currently in the process of receiving a major update. As of this date, the update is not done yet, and probably won't be for another week or so, so you may not want to read it yet.
At any rate, what happens once the emphasis is transferred from the Bible and what it actually teaches, to the doctrines and traditions of that particular church, denomination or organization, is that people who succumb to it, begin to defend and promote their church or denomination and its doctrines, more than they do the actual teachings of the Bible, all the while believing that they are still teaching sound doctrine.
This is what happens when we take our eyes off of God and His Word, and place them instead on some man, some spiritual leader or some so-called prophet or prophetess of God. This problem occurred as far back as the First Century, so don't deceive yourself and think that it still doesn't happen today as well.
Now, if my above comments hit a raw nerve with you, perhaps it is time for you to examine your own life and beliefs more closely.
