TABERING - To strike (especially the tabret).

The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved. And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, and her maids shall lead her as with the voice of doves, TABERING upon their breasts.  Nahum 2:6-7, KJV

TABERNACLE - A tent, booth or dwelling.

Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. The light shall be dark in his TABERNACLE, and his candle shall be put out with him.  Job 18:5-6, KJV

TABRET - Tambourine.

Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! And the harp, and the viol, the TABRET, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.  Isaiah 5:11-12, KJV

TACHES - Hooks; fasteners.

And thou shalt make fifty TACHES of gold, and couple the curtains together with the TACHES: and it shall be one  Exodus 26:6, KJV

TALE - A carefully counted number.

Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves. And the TALE of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.  Exodus 5:7-8, KJV

TALENT - A weight, money, or gift.

Then he that had received the five TALENTS went and traded with the same, and made them other five TALENTs. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.  Matthew 25:16-18, KJV

TARES - Weeds found in grain.

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed TARES among the wheat, and went his way.  Matthew 13:24-25, KJV

TAUNT - An object of scorn and derision.

Moreover I will make thee waste, and a reproach among the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of all that pass by. So it shall be a reproach and a TAUNT, an instruction and an astonishment unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments in thee in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the LORD have spoken it.  Ezekiel 5:14-15, KJV

TEATS - Breasts.

Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother: and they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the TEATS of their virginity.  Ezekiel 23:2-3, KJV

TELL - To number; count.

And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and TELL the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.  Genesis 15:4-5, KJV

TEMPER - To mingle; sprinkle; moisten.

And unleavened bread, and cakes unleavened TEMPERED with oil, and wafers unleavened anointed with oil: of wheaten flour shalt thou make them.  Exodus 29:2, KJV

TEMPERANCE - Self-control.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, TEMPERANCE: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.  Galatians 5:22-24, KJV

TEMPERATE - To exercise power or self-control.

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is TEMPERATE in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.  1 Corinthians 9:24-25, KJV

TEMPEST - Storm; whirlwind.

The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible TEMPEST: this shall be the portion of their cup.  Psalm 11:5-6, KJV

TENON - Projection on the end of a wooden board.

Two TENONS shall there be in one board, set in order one against another: thus shalt thou make for all the boards of the tabernacle.  Exodus 26:17, KJV

TESTAMENT - A covenant; an agreement.

For where a TESTAMENT is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a TESTAMENT is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. Whereupon neither the first TESTAMENT was dedicated without blood.  Hebrews 9:16-18, KJV

THENCE - There; that place.

Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from THENCE: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all.  Matthew 12:14-15, KJV

THITHERWARD - In that direction; towards.

In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God. They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces THITHERWARD, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.  Jeremiah 50:4-5, KJV


Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred THREESCORE and six.  Revelation 13, KJV

THRICE - Three times.

Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, that this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me THRICE.  Matthew 26:35-36, KJV

TILLAGE - Ploughed land.

Much food is in the TILLAGE of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.  Proverbs 13:23, KJV

TIRE - Turban; head ornament.

Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the TIRE of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.  Ezekiel 24:17, KJV

TIRSHATHA - Title of a Persian governor.

And some of the chief of the fathers gave unto the work. The TIRSHATHA gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.  Nehemiah 7:70, KJV

TITHE - The tenth part; 1/10.

And all the TITHE of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S: it is holy unto the LORD.  Leviticus 27:30, KJV

TITTLE - A point of a letter of the alphabet.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one TITTLE shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.  Matthew 5:17-18, KJV

TOLD OUT - Numbered; tallied.

And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the LORD, and an house for his kingdom. And Solomon TOLD OUT threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.  2 Chronicles 2:1-2, KJV

TOW - The short fibers of the flax plant.

Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, the Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of TOW is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.  Judges 16:9, KJV

TRANSGRESSION - Wrong-doing; a violation of a law.

Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying, I am clean without TRANSGRESSION, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.  Job 33:8-9, KJV

TRAVERSING - Turning; interweaving; entangling.

How canst thou say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? See thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: thou art a swift dromedary TRAVERSING her ways.  Jeremiah 2:23, KJV

TRESPASS - Wrong-doing; sin.

For if ye forgive men their TRESPASSES, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: but if ye forgive not men their TRESPASSES, neither will your Father forgive your TRESPASSES.  Matthew 6:14-15, KJV

TRODDEN - Trampled.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good nothing but to be cast out, and to be TRODDEN under foot of men.  Matthew 5:13, KJV

TRODE - Trampled.

In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they TRODE one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.  Luke 12:1, KJV

TROW - Think.

But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I TROW not.  Luke 17:9, KJV

TRUMP - Trumpet.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the TRUMP of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.  1 Thessalonians 4:16, KJV

TURTLE - Dove.

The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the TURTLE is heard in our land.  Song of Solomon 2:12, KJV

TWAIN - Two.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; and they TWAIN shall be one flesh: so then they are no more TWAIN, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.  Mark 10:7-9, KJV

TYRUS - Tyre, city of.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O TYRUS, and will cause many nations to come up against thee, as the sea causeth his waves to come up.  Ezekiel 26:3, KJV
