PAPS - Breasts; bosoms.

And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the PAPS which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.  Luke 11:27-28, KJV

PARABLE - An utterance that involves a comparison.

And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his PARABLES, they perceived that he spake of them.  Matthew 21:45, KJV

PARAMOUR - A male or female lover.

Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, in calling to remembrance the days of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt. For she doted upon their PARAMOURS, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.  Ezekiel 23:19-20, KJV

PASTOR - One who feeds the flock; shepherd.

And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination. The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the PASTORS also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.  Jeremiah 2:7-8, KJV

PATE - Forehead; crown of the head.

He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made. His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own PATE.  Psalm 7:16, KJV

PAVILION - Tabernacle; dwelling.

He made darkness his secret place; his PAVILION round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies. At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.  Psalm 18:11-12, KJV

PEELED - Bald; bare; smooth.

In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and PEELED, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion.  Isaiah 18:7, KJV

PENURY - Poverty; need.

And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: for all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her PENURY hath cast in all the living that she had.  Luke 21:1-4, KJV

PERADVENTURE - Perhaps.

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God PERADVENTURE will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;  2 Timothy 2:24-25, KJV

PERDITION - Destruction.

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of PERDITION.  2 Thessalonians 2:1-3, KJV

PERSECUTE - To pursue after in order to overtake.

The wicked in his pride doth PERSECUTE the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined. For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.  Psalm 10:2-3, KJV

PIETY - Godliness.

Honour widows that are widows indeed. But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to show PIETY at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.  1 Timothy 5:3-4, KJV

PILLED - To have stripped off skin or bark.

And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chestnut tree; and PILLED white streaks in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods. And he set the rods which he had PILLED before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink.  Genesis 30:37-38, KJV

PINNACLE - Anything that runs out to a point.

Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a PINNACLE of the temple, and saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.  Matthew 4:5, KJV

PITCH - A thick, dark, sticky substance.

For it is the day of the LORD's vengeance, and the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion. And the streams thereof shall be turned into PITCH, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning PITCH.  Isaiah 34:8-9, KJV

PLAITING - Braiding; intertwining.

Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; while they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of PLAITING the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel.  1 Peter 3:1-3, KJV

PLATTED - Braided; intertwined.

And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had PLATTED a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!  Matthew 27:28-29, KJV

PLEIADES - A cluster of stars.

[God] which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and PLEIADES, and the chambers of the south.  Job 9:8-9, KJV

POLL - To cut hair from the head.

Neither shall they shave their heads, nor suffer their locks to grow long; they shall only POLL their heads.  Ezekiel 44:20, KJV

POMMEL - Bowl, or crown (anything round).

And Huram made the pots, and the shovels, and the basins. And Huram finished the work that he was to make for king Solomon for the house of God; to wit, the two pillars, and the POMMELS, and the chapiters which were on the top of the two pillars, and the two wreaths to cover the two POMMELS of the chapiters which were on the top of the pillars.  2 Chronicles 4:11-12, KJV

PONDER - To consider carefully; meditate.

And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and PONDERED them in her heart.  Luke 2:18-19, KJV

PORTER - A doorkeeper; gatekeeper.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the PORTER openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.  John 10:1-3, KJV

POST - A runner; courier.

One POST shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to show the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end, and that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.  Jeremiah 51:31-32, KJV

POTENTATE - One who possesses power.

I give thee charge in the sight of God..., who is the blessed and only POTENTATE, the King of kings, and Lord of lords.  1 Timothy 6:13,15, KJV

POTSHERD - A piece of broken pottery.

I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a POTSHERD; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.  Psalm 22:14-15, KJV

POTTAGE - Any boiled dish or food.

If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or POTTAGE, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.  Haggai 2:12, KJV

PRATING - Babbling; chattering.

The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a PRATING fool shall fall. He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known. He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a PRATING fool shall fall.  Proverbs 10:8-10, KJV

PREDESTINATED - Determined beforehand.

That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being PREDESTINATED according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.  Ephesians 1:10-12, KJV

PRESBYTERY - An assembly of elders.

Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the PRESBYTERY.  1 Timothy 4:14, KJV

PRICK - Rod with a sharp point.

And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the PRICKS.  Acts 26:14, KJV

PRINCIPALITY - The highest dignitary of the State.

Put them in mind to be subject to PRINCIPALITIES and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work.  Titus 3:1, KJV

PRIVILY - Secretly.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: when as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away PRIVILY.  Matthew 1, KJV

PRIVY, (BEING PRIVY TO) - Being aware or knowledgeable of.

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, and kept back part of the price, his wife also BEING PRIVY TO it, and brought a certain part, and laid it, at the apostles' feet.  Acts 5:1-2, KJV

PROCURETH - To seek.

He that diligently seeketh good PROCURETH favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.  Proverbs 11:27, KJV

PROFOUND, (ARE PROFOUND) - To go deep into something.

Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor. And the revolters ARE PROFOUND to make slaughter, though I have been a rebuker of them all.  Hosea 5:1-2, KJV

PROGENITORS - Ancestors; parents.

The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my PROGENITORS unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.  Genesis 49:26, KJV

PROGNOSTICATOR - Foretellers of the future.

Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail. Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly PROGNOSTICATORS, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.  Isaiah 47:12-13, KJV

PROPITIATION - Covering; atoning sacrifice.

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the PROPITIATION for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.  1 John 2:1-2, KJV

PROSELYTE - Convert.

And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a PROSELYTE of Antioch: whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.  Acts 6:5-6, KJV

PROSPECT - Face.

And he said unto me, This chamber, whose PROSPECT is toward the south, is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the house. And the chamber whose PROSPECT is toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the altar: these are the sons of Zadok among the sons of Levi, which come near to the LORD to minister unto him.  Ezekiel 40:45-46, KJV

PROVENDER - Food for livestock or cattle.

And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in? And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto Nahor. She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and PROVENDER enough, and room to lodge in.  Genesis 24:23-25, KJV

PROVERB - A dark or puzzling saying.

These things have I spoken unto you in PROVERBS: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in PROVERBS, but I shall show you plainly of the Father. At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.  John 16:25-27, KJV

PSALM - A song; a melody.

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in PSALMS and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.  Ephesians 5:18-21, KJV

PSALTERY - A stringed musical instrument.

Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, PSALTERY, and all kinds of music, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.  Daniel 3:7, KJV

PUBLICAN - A tax collector.

And after these things he went forth, and saw a PUBLICAN, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me. And he left all, rose up, and followed him.  Luke 5:27-28, KJV

PULSE - Bean or seed used for food.

Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us PULSE to eat, and water to drink. Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.  Daniel 1:11-13, KJV

PURLOINING - Stealing; pilfering.

Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; not PURLOINING, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.  Titus 2:9-10, KJV

PURTENANCE - Animal intestines; inwards.

And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the PURTENANCE thereof.  Exodus 12:8-9, KJV

PUTRIFYING - Pertaining to gangrene; decaying.

From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and PUTRIFYING sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.  Isaiah 1:6, KJV
