CABINS - Vaulted cells.

CALDRON - A pot; kettle.

Also the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brazen sea that was in the house of the LORD, the Chaldeans brake, and carried all the brass of them to Babylon. The CALDRONS also, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away.  Jeremiah 52:17-18, KJV

CALKERS - Repairers of seams.

The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise men, O Tyrus, that were in thee, were thy pilots. The ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy CALKERS: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy thy merchandise.  Ezekiel 27:8-9, KJV

CANDLESTICK - Lampstand.

And thou shalt make a CANDLESTICK of pure gold: of beaten work shall the CANDLESTICK be made: his shaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, shall be of the same.  Exodus 25:31, KJV

CANKER - A dying or decay of a part of the body.

But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a CANKER: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus.  2 Timothy 2:16-17, KJV

CARNAL - Of the flesh; denoting human nature.

For ye are yet CARNAL: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not CARNAL, and walk as men?  1 Corinthians 3:3, KJV

CARRIAGES - Baggage.

Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done. And after those days we took up our CARRIAGES, and went up to Jerusalem.  Acts 21:13-15, KJV

CASEMENT - A window.

For at the window of my house I looked through my CASEMENT, And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,  Proverbs 7:5-6, KJV

CAST - Worn-out; old; cast-off.

Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from hence thirty men with thee, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he die. So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old CAST clouts and old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.  Jeremiah 38:12, KJV

CAST ANGLE - To fish with a hook.

The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more. The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that CAST ANGLE into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.  Isaiah 19:7-8, KJV

CAUL - A membrane covering (anatomy).

Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them: I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the CAUL of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.  Hosea 13:7-8, KJV

CAULS - Embroidered works, networks.

In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their CAULS, and their round tires like the moon.  Isaiah 3:18, KJV

CENSER - An instrument used for burning incense.

And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand. And the angel took the CENSER, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.  Revelation 8:4-5, KJV

CENTURION - Commander of a hundred men.

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a CENTURION of the band called the Italian band, a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.  Acts 10:1-2, KJV

CHAMBERING - Sexual immorality; lewdness.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in CHAMBERING and wantonness, not in strife and envying.  Romans 13:12-13, KJV

CHAMBERLAIN - Eunuch, or chief servant.

On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven CHAMBERLAINS that served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king, to bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to show the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on.  Esther 1:10-11, KJV

CHAMPAIGN - A plain; level country.

Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the CHAMPAIGN over against Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh?  Deuteronomy 11:30, KJV

CHAPITER - Capital of a column.

Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the CHAPITER that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.  2 Chronicles 3:15, KJV

CHAPMEN - Merchantmen; traders.

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold; beside that which CHAPMEN and merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.  2 Chronicles 9:13-14, KJV

CHARGED - Burdened; weighed down.

If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be CHARGED; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.  1 Timothy 5:16, KJV

CHARGER - Dish; plate.

But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod. Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask. And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a CHARGER.  Mathew 14:6-8, KJV

CHASTE - Untouched; undefiled.

Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a CHASTE virgin to Christ.  2 Corinthians 11:1-2, KJV

CHASTEN - To discipline; train; educate.

As many as I love, I rebuke and CHASTEN: be zealous therefore, and repent.  Revelation 3:19, KJV

CHIDE - Contend; strive.

The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always CHIDE: neither will he keep his anger for ever.  Psalm 103:9-10, KJV

CHOLER - Anger.

And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power. And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with CHOLER against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.  Daniel 8:6-7, KJV

CHRYSOPRASUS - A precious stone.

And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a CHRYSOPRASUS; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.  Revelation 21:19-20, KJV

CHURCH - Assembly of "called out" ones.

Likewise greet the CHURCH that is in their house. Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.  Romans 16:5, KJV

CHURL - A rude, fraudulent person.

The instruments also of the CHURL are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.  Isaiah 32:7, KJV

CHURLISH - Cruel; stubborn.

Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was CHURLISH and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb.  1 Samuel 25:3, KJV

CIRCUMSPECT, BE - Take heed; pay strict attention.

And in all things that I have said unto you BE CIRCUMSPECT: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.  Exodus 23:13, KJV

CISTERN - A pit, or well.

Drink waters out of thine own CISTERN, and running waters out of thine own well.  Proverbs 5:15, KJV

CLAMOUR - An outcry or protest.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and CLAMOUR, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.  Ephesians 4:31-32, KJV

CLAVE - To split; to break through; tear.

Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob. And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he CLAVE the rock also, and the waters gushed out.  Isaiah 48:20-21, KJV

CLEANNESS OF TEETH - Famine.

And I also have given you CLEANNESS OF TEETH in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.  Amos 4:16, KJV

CLEAVETH - To stick close to.

Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression? For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly CLEAVETH unto the earth. Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake.  Psalm 44:24-26, KJV

CLEFT - An opening, break or split.

The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the CLEFTS of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?  Obadiah 3, KJV

CLIFT - An opening, break or split.

And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: and it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a CLIFT of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by.  Exodus 33:21-22, KJV

CLOAK - Raiment; clothing.

And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy CLOAK also.  Matthew 5:40, KJV

CLOUTS - Pieces of cloth; patches.

Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from hence thirty men with thee, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he die. COCKATRICE - A viper; serpent.

And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the COCKATRICE' den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.  Isaiah 11:8-9, KJV

COCKLE - A weed resembling wheat.

If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life: let thistles grow instead of wheat, and COCKLE instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.  Job 31:39-40, KJV

COGITATION - A thought.

Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my COGITATIONS much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.  Daniel 7:28, KJV

COLLOP - A piece of flesh.

The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor. Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle. For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty. He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers: because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh COLLOPS of fat on his flanks.  Job 15:27, KJV

COMMEND - To praise.

Do we begin again to COMMEND ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of COMMENDation to you, or letters of COMMENDation from you?  2 Corinthians 3:1, KJV

COMMUNICATE - To share or have things in common.

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to COMMUNICATE.  1 Timothy 6:17-18, KJV

COMPASS - To surround; encircle.

For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou COMPASS him as with a shield.  Psalm 5:12, KJV

CONCISION - A cutting off; a false circumcision.

Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe. Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the CONCISION. For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.  Philippians 3:1-3, KJV

CONCLUDED - Shut together; enclosed.

But the scripture hath CONCLUDED all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.  Galatians 3:22, KJV

CONCORD - Agreement; unison.

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what CONCORD hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?  2 Corinthians 6:14-15, KJV

CONCOURSE - A gathering; a crowd of people.

For we are in danger to be called in question for this day's uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this CONCOURSE. And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.  Acts 19:40-41, KJV

CONCUBINE - A secondary or inferior wife.

And David took him more CONCUBINES and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.  2 Samuel 5:13, KJV

CONCUPISCENCE - Strong desire; passion.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil CONCUPISCENCE, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience.  Colossians 3:5-6, KJV

CONDESCEND - To go along; to be led.

Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but CONDESCEND to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.  Romans 12:16, KJV

CONFECTIONARIES - Ointment makers; perfumers.

And he will take your daughters to be CONFECTIONARIES, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.  1 Samuel 8:12, KJV

CONFER - To speak or talk together.

But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they CONFERRED among themselves, saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.  Acts 4:15-16, KJV

CONSECRATE - To regard as set apart or separate.

And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments to CONSECRATE him, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.  Exodus 28:3, KJV

CONSTRAIN - To compel.

And straightway Jesus CONSTRAINED his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.  Matthew 14:22-23, KJV

CONTEMN - To despise with mockery.

Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble. Wherefore doth the wicked CONTEMN God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.  Psalm 10:13, KJV

CONTEMPTIBLE - Despisable; worthy of nothing.

For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech CONTEMPTIBLE.  2 Corinthians 10:10, KJV

CONTENTIOUS - Loving quarrel; fond of strife.

To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: but unto them that are CONTENTIOUS, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,  Romans 2:7-8, KJV

CONTRITE - Crushed, broken or bruised in spirit.

Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a CONTRITE spirit, and trembleth at my word.  Isaiah 66:1-2, KJV

CONVENIENT - Proper; appropriate.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not CONVENIENT.  Romans 1:28, KJV

CONVERSATION - One's conduct; manner of walk.

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins: wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our CONVERSATION in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.  Ephesians 2:1-3, KJV

CONVINCETH - Convict.

And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you CONVINCETH me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.  John 8:45-47, KJV

CONVOCATION - A calling together; assembly.

Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel. And in the first day there shall be an holy CONVOCATION, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy CONVOCATION to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.  Exodus 12:15-16, KJV

CORNET - A wind instrument; horn; trumpet.

Blow ye the CORNET in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: cry aloud at Bethaven, after thee, O Benjamin.  Hosea 5:8, KJV

COTE - 1) Livestock shed; 2) Fold.

And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels; Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and COTES for flocks.  2 Chronicles 32:27-28, KJV

COULTER - Iron agricultural tool.

But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his share, and his COULTER, and his ax, and his mattock.  1 Samuel 13:20, KJV

COUNTENANCE - Appearance.

And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. And as he prayed, the fashion of his COUNTENANCE was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.  Luke 9:28-29, KJV

COUNTERVAIL - To be make equal, offset, compensate.

Then Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request: For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy could not COUNTERVAIL the king's damage.  Esther 7:3-4, KJV

COURSE, BY - In portion, part; in turn.

If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that BY COURSE; and let one interpret.  1 Corinthians 14:27, KJV

COVERT - A hiding place.

And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a COVERT from storm and from rain.  Isaiah 4:6, KJV

COVET - To long after; to try to gain.

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some COVETED after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.  1 Timothy 6:10, KJV

CRACKNEL - Small dry cake; cracker.

And take with thee ten loaves, and CRACKNELS, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.  1 Kings 14:3, KJV

CRIB - A place in which cattle are fattened.

The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's CRIB: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.  Isaiah 1:3, KJV

CRISPING PINS - Money bags or purses, highly ornamented.

The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the CRISPING PINS.  Isaiah 3:22, KJV

CROP - To pluck or break off.

And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar: He CROPPED off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffic; he set it in a city of merchants.  Ezekiel 17:3-4, KJV

CRUSE - A pot.

And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a CRUSE of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.  1 Kings 14:3, KJV

CUBIT - A linear measurement.

Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one CUBIT?  Luke 12:24-25, KJV

CUMBERED - To be distracted with cares.

But Martha was CUMBERED about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.  Luke 10:40, KJV

CUMBERETH - To render useless; to make vain.

He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why CUMBERETH it the ground?  Luke 13:6-7, KJV

CUMMIN - Plant bearing aromatic seeds.

Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? Doth he open and break the clods of his ground? When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the CUMMIN, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place?  Isaiah 28:24-25, KJV

CUT IN SUNDER - To cut into pieces.

But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; the lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will CUT him IN SUNDER, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.  Luke 12:45-46, KJV
