WHEN SIN IS NO LONGER A SIN!

Nine Sexual Sins, Defining Sin And Transgression, What Law? From my careful study of the Scriptures, I have identified nine major sexual sins which are prohibited by God, many of which were punishable by death in the Old Testament. These nine sins are as follows:
Adultery - sexual infidelity while married
Bestiality - human sex acts with animals
Fornication - all sex outside of heterosexual marriage
Homosexuality - men having sex with other men
Incest - sex with another close family member
Lesbianism - woman having sex with other women
Prostitution - having sex for profit
Rape - forced sex without the other's consent
Transvestitism - cross-dressing, men as women, women as men
This is not to say that these are the only sexual sins that are found in the Bible; there may be others that are yet to be discovered; but they are definitely the most serious ones. The topic of this article concerns the sin of homosexuality, and a dire situation which has been developing in the United States of America for some time now, and elsewhere as well. However, before we delve into the main subject matter of our discussion, we need to first ask ourselves: Exactly what is the Biblical definition of sin? As I point out in some of my other articles, the Apostle John defines sin for us when he states the following in one of his Epistles:
"Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."

Thus we see that, according to the Holy Scriptures, sin is a transgression of the law. But exactly what does this word "transgression" mean? The Greek lexicon states that it is derived from the Greek "anomia", pronounced an-om-ee'-ah, which it defines as follows:

In other words, sin is any act which causes us to break, or to violate, the law. It is to live outside of, or without, the law; either due to ignorance of the law, or because of willful contempt for it, or disobedience to it. This word is also translated as iniquity and wickedness in the New Testament.
Perhaps some of you might be asking yourselves: "Well, what law are we talking about here? Laws vary from country to country, depending upon the culture of each nation, as well as upon the type of government in power in each country." In reality, being as this discussion revolves around the Bible, obviously, we are not talking about the laws of worldly men and governments, but rather the Law of the Bible. To be more precise, upon studying the New Testament more thoroughly, we discover that the writers are referring to the Torah; that is to say, the Levitical and Mosaic Law contained in the Old Testament. As I point out in other articles, such as in part two of "The Two Sackcloth Witnesses Of Revelation 11", the Lord and the Apostles repeatedly talked about the importance of the Law and the Prophets; which not only prophesied of our Lord's coming, but which also set the moral standard for the Israelites, just as it does for we Christians today. The following verses verify this point:
"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."

"Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

It should be clear then, that if we truly want to understand what sin is in God's sight, we must know His Law. It should also come as no surprise to us, that when the authors of the New Testament wrote about sin, their understanding was based entirely upon their knowledge of the Mosaic Law, which at that time was a very central part of life in Israel. Thus it is that John informs us that sin is a transgression, or a violation, of God's Law. Similar to John, the Apostle Paul also made it very clear that sin is defined by the Law, when he wrote the following lines:
". . . for by the law is the knowledge of sin."

". . . Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead."

So again, we see that we define what is sin, and in fact are forced to recognize that we are sinners, by what is written in the Law. Without God's Law, defining sin, defining what is right and what is wrong, would be a much more murky issue subject to personal interpretation. What is considered sin by one person, might not be considered sin by another, but God's Law makes it perfectly clear. It plainly states "This is a sin, and this is a sin, but that is not." It gives us a definite understanding and knowledge of sin. That's why Paul tells us in the previous verses that without the knowledge of the Law, sin becomes dead.
Now, some hard-hearted people might be tempted to argue, "So does that mean that if I have never heard of the Bible, or if I have never read the Bible, or if I at least don't know what the Mosaic Law says, that I cannot be held accountable for my actions, or be found guilty of sin? Can't I just say to God, 'Well, sorry, but I didn't know'"? Absolutely not! It doesn't matter if a person is a native of some tribe lost deep in the jungles of Borneo or Brazil; in his heart, he knows what is right and what is wrong. This is because God's Law is not just written in the pages of an ancient book; it is written on the very tables of our hearts; and that makes us inescapable, and inexcusable. It is for this very reason that the Apostle Paul also wrote:
"For there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)"

So you see, whether one is a Jew who knows the Law, or a Gentile who does not know the Law, that is, one who does not know the precise mandates of the Mosaic Law as a Law-abiding Jew would, makes no difference to God; because His Laws are written on all of our hearts; burned into our conscience; and He is no respecter of persons. We all stand before Him the same; guilty; because absolutely no one can keep every single mandate of the Mosaic Law; and that is why we need Jesus. As the Apostles James and Paul also wrote:
"For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."
James 2:10, KJV
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

So to reiterate my point, God's Law is like the ever-present voice of our conscience, which is constantly trying to steer us in the right direction; and whenever we disobey His Law which is written upon our hearts, it is quick to let us know that we are guilty, and that we need to repent. We have all felt this, have we not? It is for this reason, that after we have done wrong, after we have committed some sin, we begin to feel paranoid; we begin to feel very uncomfortable; and we hope that our sins will remain hidden; but what does God's Word tell us? Consider these verses:
". . . behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out."

"O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee."

"For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known."

Just as Jesus exposed the sins of the Jewish Elders of His day, thus making them accountable for them, God has likewise spoken to all of us through His Law written upon our hearts, through the voice of our very own conscience. While we have indeed been found guilty of sin, we can find consolation in the fact that there is a way of escape; there is a way out; and as I explain in some of my articles on Salvation, that Way is through Jesus Christ. Please refer to some of those articles, such as "Message To The World", if you do not yet understand God's Plan of Salvation for your life.
Having now thoroughly established the importance of Biblical Law, and our relationship to God's Laws, let us address the issue of homosexuality. As I explain in my four-part series "Homosexuality And Lesbianism: To The Point", from my study of the Scriptures over the years, I have become convinced that God's Word absolutely and clearly condemns the gay and lesbian lifestyle, and views these practices as clear sexual perversions, unnatural, (or against the natural design that God created for human procreation), and outright violations, or transgressions, against His Law. Plainly stated, they are sins; they are contrary to the Natural Order which the Lord Himself established at the beginning of the world for His creations. Following is a set of verses which I've extracted from the aforementioned series, which points to these sexual aberrations as being two of the nine major sexual sins of the Bible:
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination."

"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

"There shall be no . . . sodomite of the sons of Israel."

"Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;"

"Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, [meaning homosexuals] for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;"

It should be clear to you then, that in both the Old and the New Testaments, God's Word is very explicit in condemning these unnatural lifestyles. Let us now turn our attention to the main focus of this series. It is a well-established fact that the basis for many of man's modern laws is the Mosaic Law. Even people who are God and Christ haters are forced to recognize this. Quite a few of God's Laws, which were first given to Moses, have been preserved, and firmly established within man's laws for literally thousands of years. We find this same moral basis shared by the ancient Israelites, by ancient and modern Christianity, and even by Islam; because all of them recognize Moses as a great Prophet of God.
The reason why I have not included modern Judaism in this same category, is quite simply because it is not based upon the Old Testament Scriptures as Christians have erroneously been led to believe, but rather upon the twisted, corrupted teachings of the rabbis of the Babylonian Talmud; many of which teachings are clearly against the teachings of Moses, and even against the teachings of Christ. In fact, some of the more secretive contents of the Talmud, such as condoning sex between men and boys, is downright disgusting. Now, allow me to ask you a simple question: What if man's laws are slowly and subtly changed, so that portions of the Mosaic Law, particularly those laws which deal with moral and sexual conduct, are deemed ineffective, and are viewed as being outdated, old-fashioned, and in fact contrary to modern laws and social attitudes by certain sectors of our society? What would the end result be? If you think that this cannot possibly happen, I urge you to think again. Not only can it happen, but unless you have been asleep for the past three decades, and particularly during the past three years, you will already know that it is in fact happening right now; just as the very same thing happened several thousand years ago when the spiritual leadership of Israel neutralized the true Laws of God through their own ritualistic practices and traditions. As I point out in other articles, it is because Jesus exposed these things, that the proud, self-righteous Scribes and Pharisees hated Him so, and sought for a way to kill Him. Consider the following verses:
"But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition."

"Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye."

So you see, the basic attitude of those religious leaders was "We don't want to do things God's way; we want to do them OUR way. Our laws are more up-to-date, and better than the Mosaic Law". Please don't forget that roughly fifteen hundred years had passed from the time that Moses received the Commandments on Sinai, to the time of Christ. That gave the corrupt leadership plenty of time, and plenty of opportunity, to begin twisting and changing what they did not like; and as I point out in such series as "The Fruits Of Disobedience", their rebellion began long before the time of Christ; and that is why God was constantly chastising them. Allow me to remind you again of the words of the Prophet Jeremiah, written some six hundred years before the arrival of the Messiah:
"The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?"
Jeremiah 5:31, KJV
Notice that the Lord specifically tells us by way of the Prophet Jeremiah, that "my people love to have it so". In other words, the people of ancient Israel openly supported the corrupt rule and practices of their false prophets and priests. They were partners in sin. They each looked the other way in regards to each other's rebellion against God. In the case of the people, this included sacrificing their very own sons and daughters to the false pagan gods of the nations which surrounded them. Child sacrifice was just as common then, as abortion is today. There is really not much of a difference being as both practices were, and still are, motivated by selfishness. Please refer to my lengthy series "Abortion: The Slaughter Of The Innocent" for more details. At any rate, this relationship of convenience between the corrupt spiritual leaders of Israel, and their followers, is very similar to a warning that the Apostle Paul issued in his second Epistle to Timothy many centuries later, as we see here:
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

In other words, Paul is saying that a dark time would come which would be marked by many false prophets and teachers, who would teach exactly what the people want to hear; just like the ancient Israelites; even if what they are teaching and preaching is false. Can any sincere, Bible-believing Christian deny that these very things are happening in our current day? It is very obvious that the rebellious attitude towards God's Law which existed thousands of years ago, is still very much present in our modern day as well. Some two thousand years have passed since the days when Jesus walked the Earth, and the enemies of God continue to corrupt and distort what portions of the Mosaic Law remain embedded in man's modern laws.
In "Homosexuality And Lesbianism: To The Point!", I mention the fact that not only do some members of the modern clergy openly support gay and lesbian rights, but some of them are in fact gays and lesbians themselves. To make matters worse, because of the strong delusion under which they have fallen, because of their rejection of the truth, in recent years, some of these liberal clergy have begun to pronounce their blessings upon these unholy unions. What blasphemy against the true Law of God! What God views as an abomination; what He has cursed according to His Law; and what He considers worthy of death; these false shepherds have turned around and blessed! By their actions, these deceivers are saying that contrary to what is clearly written in the Scriptures, sin is no longer a sin. How can these wolves go unpunished? I am again reminded of the words of the Prophet Isaiah, as well as of another warning the Apostle Paul issued in the Book of Acts. Consider the following:
"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"

"For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock."

As I explain in other articles where I discuss the Mosaic Law, while the Apostle Paul was referring to the legalistic Jews who crept into the congregations of the First Century Disciples, pretending to be true brethren, in order to try to bring them back under the bondage of the Mosaic Law, as opposed to faith only in Christ for their Salvation, how much more does Paul's warning apply to our modern day, in which the truth has truly been trampled underfoot, even by those who claim to be God's representatives? These false shepherds would have their flocks to believe that God will simply overlook their lives of sin and perverted sex, which are an abomination in His sight, because they claim to love Him. How can they claim to love Him, or to be obedient to His Will, when they openly refuse to obey His Word which clearly condemns their lifestyle? As Jesus Himself said:
"If ye love me, keep my commandments."
John 14:15, KJV
"If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them."

In the eighth chapter of the Gospel of John, when the woman who was caught in adultery was brought before Jesus by His religious enemies, how did the Lord respond to their words? Following His famous utterance of "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her", after which the woman's accusers dispersed, the Lord said to the woman:
". . . Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."

Now, please notice exactly what occurred here. First we see that Jesus did not condemn her. This woman had obviously broken the Mosaic Law; and by that Law, as her accusers had rightly stated, she was clearly worthy of death by stoning; yet Jesus did not agree with their judgment, or condemn her. Why would this be? To me, the answer seems rather obvious. This woman was apparently sorry for what she had done. When brought before the merciful countenance of the Savior, she must have been truly convicted in her heart, and repented of her sins; and that repentance brought down God's Mercy upon her. But notice too that Jesus was not condoning her sin. He did issue her a clear warning, as He had done with others as well. He said ". . . go, and sin no more". In other words, He was saying "I forgive you, I will have mercy upon you, but don't do it again." As it is written:
"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."

"But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
