A Discussion On Mercy, Soul, Body & Spirit, Hell, The
Watchers And Much More!

In a previous article entitled 'Judgment of Angels, Demons
And Men,' I discussed the issue of human beings judging
angels, unpardonable sin, The Watchers & a few other topics.
This current article is an extension of that one and will
present some additional information, as well as a few
interesting concepts which might raise the eyebrows of a
few. A couple of years ago I was involved in a now-defunct
Christian network in my local area. We enjoyed discussing
quite a range of topics, and one day we got to talking about
salvation and God's mercy. I then made a statement which
surprised some of my more conservative Christian friends.
The statement was as follows:

"The Bible indicates that ultimately there
will be very few people left in hell. God
won't be happy until He has saved as many
of them as He can. Yes, many of the other
religions still deny the divinity of Christ,
but give the Lord more time to work on them.
He hasn't given up on them yet, have you?"

I based the above on such verses as 2 Peter 3:9 which

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men
count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not
willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)

One of the first responses came from a friend who quoted me
the following verse and challenged me to present Scriptures
to refute his position:

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and
broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many
there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate,
and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few
there be that find it." (Matthew 7:13-14)

The above verse was accompanied by the following remark from
my friend:

"...This does not say, "Don't bother to preach the Word,
it's not worth it." It does, however, seem to suggest that
many won't enter heaven's gates."

Naturally, I accept the whole Bible as the inspired Word of
God, the above verse included. However, as some of you may
know from reading some of my other articles, I do entertain
the possibility that even after they enter the broad way to
destruction, even after this present physical life ends,
there may still be hope for those who have made the wrong
choice by not accepting Jesus, and/or for those who were
never even given that opportunity, IF such is possible.

In a previous article I quoted the verses from Peter's first
epistle where we are given to understand that during the
time His body lay in the sepulchre, Jesus descended in
spirit form into what Peter calls a prison:

"By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in
prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the
longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the
ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were
saved by water." (1 Peter 3:19-20)

King David also had some type of a future vision regarding
his future heir, and prophesied regarding Jesus' death and
resurrection, which gave him hope that someday too, he would
likewise be raised from the dead. In the Book of Acts, in
speaking of Jesus' resurrection, the Apostle Peter quotes
from King David saying:

"For David speaketh concerning him, 'I foresaw the Lord
always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I
should not be moved: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my
tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt
thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou hast made
known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy
with thy countenance.'"

"Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the
patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his
sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore being a
prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him,
that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he
would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; He seeing this
before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul
was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are
witnesses." (Acts 2:25-32)

Notice the words 'soul' and 'flesh' here. Peter is making a
clear distinction between them. By his usage of the word
'neither,' Peter is showing that they are two separate
things. Some people believe that the word 'soul' is simply
referring to our physical body which acts as a container for
our spirit, that unique lifeforce from God which makes us
alive. This belief is partially based on a verse in Genesis
which reads:

"And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and
breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man
became a living soul." (Genesis 2:7)

At first glance, it seems to be referring to the body as the
soul, the container which received the breath of life from
God. In other words, after God formed Adam from the dust of
the ground, he was a dead soul; but once the Lord breathed
into his nostrils, Adam became a living soul, a living body.
This does make sense and is partially correct. However, once
we start doing a little bit of Biblical research, we
discover something very interesting: In many places the word
'soul' or 'souls' is used loosely to refer to people or
persons, such as in how many souls (or people) constitute a
certain family. In other places, it is indeed referring to
the physical body. BUT, if we keep searching further, we
soon discover that in the strictest sense of the word, it is
referring to the spirit which dwells within that person or
body, which is the real essence of who and what that person
is. Thus, when a new person is born or conceived, I am not
exactly sure at what point, a new lifeforce, a spiritual
presence moves into that physical body to give it
consciousness, self-awareness, just as Adam's body, although
complete, was not conscious or aware until God breathed (or
sent?) a spirit to dwell within him. When this happened,
Adam became a living soul, a living spirit, because that
spirit entered his fleshly body to live within our physical
world. Could this be why we have the popular phrase which
states that babies are made in Heaven? Looking at a new born
baby, we can only wonder if that spark of innocence shining
through isn't the essence of their true spiritual being. It
is indeed a shame how this issue of the moment of
consciousness has been targeted by pro-choice groups who
seek to justify their practice of sacrificing their babies
on the moderns altars of their god Moloch, the abortion
clinics. Perhaps they should consider the following verses
which seem to indicate that, even before He formed us in
the physical world, in our mother's womb, God knew exactly
what we were to look like. Perhaps it is even saying that
our spirits were with Him before our physical creation. You
be the judge:

"For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in
my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul
knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when
I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest
parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet
being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were
written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet
there was none of them." (Psalms 139:13-16)

There is a popular proverb which states that 'the eyes are
the windows to (or of) the soul.' Could this be why making
eye contact with someone is so interesting? When a person is
lying or being dishonest about something, it is very
difficult for them to look you straight in the eyes. Why?
Because if they do, you may see the REAL them, you may sense
what they are really thinking. You may see into their soul!
Have you ever noticed how it has become a widespread habit
to wear sunglasses, even when it isn't sunny? Odd indeed,
isn't it? We all like to hide our real selves, our spiritual
beings which peer out through the eyes of our physical
bodies, the windows of our soul. How is that for a spooky
story? Now watch some of you go start staring at yourselves
in the mirror! Don't worry, the rest of us aren't watching!
<grin> Maybe one of these days I will have time to do a
study and write an article on light, darkness and the eyes.
It would be quite interesting I am sure.

To further establish that the physical body is only a
vehicle in which the real you, your spirit or soul resides,
here are a few more verses. In this first verse Jesus shows
us the separateness of soul and body, and that it is only
God Who can destroy both:

"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to
kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy
both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28)

I should mention that in the translation of the word 'hell'
in the Bible, there were actually three different words used
in the original languages, each one meaning something
different. The words are 'hades,' 'sheol' and
'g'henna'...and my spelling may not be exactly right on all
three as it has been some time since I have referenced them.
One refers to the underworld, the abode of the dead, the
spirit world. One refers to the common grave where we are
all buried. And one refers to an actual place of torment,
what the Bible refers to as a lake burning with fire and
brimstone. In the above verse, Jesus' use of the word 'hell'
seems to really be referring to the Lake of Fire mentioned
in the Book of Revelation, as this is where the Second Death
occurs, that is, you are totally snuffed out of existence,
both your body and your spirit. The Lake of Fire is God's
eternal scrap pile reserved for the very worst, the
incorrigibles. In fact, we are told that death and hell are
cast into the Lake of Fire. Another example where Jesus
appears to be referring to the Lake of Fire, what is
translated as 'hell' in some of our modern Bibles, is in
Luke 16:19-31 which discusses the story of the rich man and
the poor beggar Lazarus.

In the following verse we see another example where the word
'soul' is really used to mean the spirits of the departed.
Here we view John's vision of the souls or spirits of those
who have been martryed, under the altar near the throne of
the Almighty:

"And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the
altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God,
and for the testimony which they held:" (Revelation 6:9)

It would seem that these are spiritual beings, unless you
accept that there are flesh and blood people in Heaven. Here
is another verse which describes the same thing:

"And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was
given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were
beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God,
and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image,
neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in
their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a
thousand years." (Revelation 20:4)

Thinking back now on the words spoken by King David and
Peter regarding Jesus' resurrection, this distinction
between 'soul' and 'flesh' or 'soul' and 'body' also
becomes more apparent:

"...He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of
Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his
flesh did see corruption..."

In this context, the word 'hell' is derived from the Greek
'hades' which, as said above, represents the underworld, the
abode of the dead, a spiritual holding place which the Bible
and many other ancient texts seem to indicate is located
within the bowels of the Earth. It is not the place of fire
and brimstone as explained above.

At any rate, when Jesus died, what happened to his physical
body? It was anointed/embalmed and placed in a sepulchre,
which in those days usually meant a carved out or natural
cave. As far back as Abraham's day we see the same practice
being followed. People used caves for burial, if you wish to
call it burial. In our modern day, when we say 'burial', we
think of digging a hole in the ground, placing a casket in
it, covering it up with earth and placing some sort of
tombstone on top of it. Not so in ancient days. If this were
the case, Lazarus would have had a bit of a problem walking
out after Jesus had raised him from the dead. And where did
Jesus raise him from? From the world of the dead, from hell,
from Hades. He reunited his spirit with his physical body
which still lay embalmed in the sepulchre. So, in like
manner, just as both King David and Peter said, Jesus'
physical body remained in the sepulchre while His spirit
descended to the netherworld, to hell, where Peter tells us
Jesus preached to the spirits in prison. But this is not
where Jesus' soul or spirit remained, for as David and Peter
said, 'Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell...' As
Jesus had prophesied concerning His death, following the
example of Jonah spending three days in the belly of the
great fish, Jesus rose from the dead, and eventually
returned to His heavenly abode at the right hand of His

So, this brings us back to our original question: if there
is no chance for us after we die, why would Jesus even
bother going to hell, or Hades? Is it because that is where
all souls or departed spirits must go first, and He had to
fulfill this as well? This would be similar to the Catholic
doctrine of Purgatory. Or is there another reason? Well, if
we read again that first verse I shared on this topic,
perhaps we can find a clue:

"...By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in

From the sound of it, it appears that the Lord voluntarily
went to this prison, which we are assuming is a reference to
hell or Hades. This leaves us with the distinct possibility
that He may have gone there specifically to offer a chance
of salvation to those who had perished due to the violence
and evil which filled the Earth in those days before Noah's
Flood. Notice that the verse says He 'preached' to them.
What would He be preaching in such a place if not salvation?
I doubt that He would go there just to further rebuke them
for being so evil. The point is that, even though thousands
of years had passed since their physical death, these souls
still apparently required a chance at salvation. Technically
speaking, until Jesus died on the cross, no one could fully
receive the gift of eternal life as far as I can tell. After
all, we are told in quite a few places that Jesus was the
FirstFruit of the resurrection:

"But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the
firstfruits of them that slept." (1 Corinthians 15:20)

Now some might argue, 'Well, what about the Old Testament
patriarchs like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, & Moses? What about
the Old Testament prophets? Are you saying they weren't
saved?' No, not at all. As I said in another article, the
Old Testament saints looked forward in faith to their
salvation, just as we look back to the events of 2,000 years
ago for our salvation. Because they looked forward in faith
believing, even though Jesus hadn't even been born yet, God
counted this as righteousness to them...and as I said in
another paper, righteousness is synonymous with being
upright or sincere. The Old Testament saints were sincere in
their faith that Jesus would come some day. But their
salvation was not perfected, it was not complete until Jesus
came in the flesh and died on the cross for the sins of the
world. In a way, you could say that God kind of gave them
credit because they had invested their faith in a future
event. We also need to remember that in the spirit world,
time does not exist, so even though Jesus hadn't been born
yet in the Old Testament, His birth, life and death on the
cross was already counted done by God in the spirit world.
Thus, the Old Testament saints could cash in on their
investment in the future so-to-speak. Here are a few verses
to verify this:

"And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for
righteousness." (Genesis 15:6)

The story behind the above verse is that when as yet Sarah
was still barren before Isaac was born, the Lord showed
Abraham all of the stars in the night sky and told him that
his seed would multiply like the stars in heaven. Because
Abraham believed, He had faith in the Lord's word, God gave
him credit for it. Paul confirmed this fact when he said:

"For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it
was counted unto him for righteousness." (Romans 4:3)

So in essence, the Old Testament saints were saved by their
faith in a future event, BUT, as I said previously, until
Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead, they could
not fully experience their salvation. But as soon as Jesus
rose from the dead, look what happened:

"And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints
which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his
resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto
many." (Matthew 27:52-53)

You see? Their investment of faith in the future had paid
off. Here we see a lot of the Old Testament saints finally
fully experiencing their salvation by being released from
their earthly graves, from the underworld.

Now, there is one other possibility here which we should
consider to give us the full picture of what Jesus going to
prison might mean. Those of you who have studied my writings
know that on various occasion and in several articles, I
have brought up the issue of the 'ir', that is, 'The
Watchers' of the book of Genesis, Daniel, Jude and the Book
of Enoch...and there are a few other places where possible
references are made to them. According to both Jude and
Enoch, we know that after their rebellion, these angels were
imprisoned in an abyss. Following is a passage from the
Epistle of Jude followed by some extensive quotes from the
Book of Enoch. Keep in mind that in the Bible, in a number
of places the word 'star' is symbolic of spiritual beings.
If you are familiar with the Book of Revelation, you will
also notice the similarities to the 'Bottomless Pit' upon
which a seal is set to lock in Satan. It appears that Enoch
and John may be speaking of the same place:

"And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left
their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains
under darkness unto the judgment of the great day."
(Jude 1:6)

"Then said the Most High, the Holy and Great One spake, and
sent Uriel to the son of Lamech, and said to him: 'Go to
Noah and tell him in my name "Hide thyself!" and reveal to
him the end that is approaching: that the whole earth will
be destroyed, and a deluge is about to come upon the whole
earth, and will destroy all that is on it. And now instruct
him that he may escape and his seed may be preserved for all
the generations of the world.' And again the Lord said to
Raphael: 'Bind Azazel hand and foot, and cast him into the
darkness: and make an opening in the desert, which is in
Dudael, and cast him therein. And place upon him rough and
jagged rocks, and cover him with darkness, and let him abide
there for ever, and cover his face that he may not see
light. And on the day of the great judgement he shall be
cast into the fire. And heal the earth which the angels have
corrupted, and proclaim the healing of the earth, that they
may heal the plague, and that all the children of men may
not perish through all the secret things that the Watchers
have disclosed and have taught their sons. And the whole
earth has been corrupted through the works that were taught
by Azazel: to him ascribe all sin.' And to Gabriel said the
Lord: 'Proceed against the bastards and the reprobates, and
against the children of fornication: and destroy [the
children of fornication and] the children of the Watchers
from amongst men [and cause them to go forth]: send them one
against the other that they may destroy each other in
battle: for length of days shall they not have. And no
request that they (i.e. their fathers) make of thee shall be
granted unto their fathers on their behalf; for they hope to
live an eternal life, and that each one of them will live
five hundred years.' And the Lord said unto Michael: 'Go,
bind Semjaza and his associates who have united themselves
with women so as to have defiled themselves with them in all
their uncleanness. And when their sons have slain one
another, and they have seen the destruction of their beloved
ones, bind them fast for seventy generations in the valleys
of the earth, till the day of their judgement and of their
consummation, till the judgement that is for ever and ever
is consummated. In those days they shall be led off to the
abyss of fire: and to the torment and the prison in which
they shall be confined for ever. And whosoever shall be
condemned and destroyed will from thenceforth be bound
together with them to the end of all generations. And
destroy all the spirits of the reprobate and the children of
the Watchers, because they have wronged mankind. Destroy all
wrong from the face of the earth and let every evil work
come to an end: and let the plant of righteousness and truth
appear: and it shall prove a blessing; the works of
righteousness and truth shall be planted in truth and joy
for evermore." (Enoch 10:1-16)

"And I proceeded and saw a place which burns day and night,
where there are seven mountains of magnificent stones, three
towards the east, and three towards the south. And as for
those towards the east, one was of coloured stone, and one of
pearl, and one of jacinth, and those towards the south of
red stone. But the middle one reached to heaven like the
throne of God, of alabaster, and the summit of the throne
was of sapphire. And I saw a flaming fire. And beyond these
mountains is a region the end of the great earth: there the
heavens were completed. And I saw a deep abyss, with columns
of heavenly fire, and among them I saw columns of fire fall,
which were beyond measure alike towards the height and
towards the depth. And beyond that abyss I saw a place which
had no firmament of the heaven above, and no firmly founded
earth beneath it: there was no water upon it, and no birds,
but it was a waste and horrible place. I saw there seven
stars like great burning mountains, and to me, when I
inquired regarding them, The angel said: 'This place is the
end of heaven and earth: this has become a prison for the
stars and the host of heaven. And the stars which roll over
the fire are they which have transgressed the commandment of
the Lord in the beginning of their rising, because they did
not come forth at their appointed times. And He was wroth
with them, and bound them till the time when their guilt
should be consummated (even) for ten thousand years.' And
Uriel said to me: 'Here shall stand the angels who have
connected themselves with women, and their spirits assuming
many different forms are defiling mankind and shall lead
them astray into sacrificing to demons as gods, (here shall
they stand,) till the day of the great judgement in which
they shall be judged till they are made an end of. And the
women also of the angels who went astray shall become
sirens.' And I, Enoch, alone saw the vision, the ends of all
things: and no man shall see as I have seen." (Enoch

"And I proceeded to where things were chaotic. And I saw
there something horrible: I saw neither a heaven above nor a
firmly founded earth, but a place chaotic and horrible. And
there I saw seven stars of the heaven bound together in it,
like great mountains and burning with fire. Then I said:
'For what sin are they bound, and on what account have they
been cast in hither?' Then said Uriel, one of the holy
angels, who was with me, and was chief over them, and said:
'Enoch, why dost thou ask, and why art thou eager for the
truth? These are of the number of the stars of heaven, which
have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and are bound
here till ten thousand years, the time entailed by their
sins, are consummated.' And from thence I went to another
place, which was still more horrible than the former, and I
saw a horrible thing: a great fire there which burnt and
blazed, and the place was cleft as far as the abyss, being
full of great descending columns of fire: neither its extent
or magnitude could I see, nor could I conjecture. Then I
said: 'How fearful is the place and how terrible to look
upon!' Then Uriel answered me, one of the holy angels who
was with me, and said unto me: 'Enoch, why hast thou such
fear and affright?' And I answered: 'Because of this fearful
place, and because of the spectacle of the pain.' And he
said unto me: 'This place is the prison of the angels, and
here they will be imprisoned for ever.'" (Enoch 21:1-10)

"And I looked and turned to another part of the earth, and
saw there a deep valley with burning fire. And they brought
the kings and the mighty, and began to cast them into this
deep valley. And there mine eyes saw how they made these
their instruments, iron chains of immeasurable weight. And I
asked the angel of peace who went with me, saying: 'For whom
are these chains being prepared?' And he said unto me:
'These are being prepared for the hosts of Azazel, so that
they may take them and cast them into the abyss of complete
condemnation, and they shall cover their jaws with rough
stones as the Lord of Spirits commanded. And Michael, and
Gabriel, and Raphael, and Phanuel shall take hold of them on
that great day, and cast them on that day into the burning
furnace, that the Lord of Spirits may take vengeance on them
for their unrighteousness in becoming subject to Satan and
leading astray those who dwell on the earth.' And in those
days shall punishment come from the Lord of Spirits, and he
will open all the chambers of waters which are above the
heavens, and of the fountains which are beneath the earth.
And all the waters shall be joined with the waters: that
which is above the heavens is the masculine, and the water
which is beneath the earth is the feminine. And they shall
destroy all who dwell on the earth and those who dwell under
the ends of the heaven. And when they have recognized their
unrighteousness which they have wrought on the earth, then
by these shall they perish. (Enoch 54:1-10)

Thus, from the above quotes we get a dreadful picture of the
judgements to come of The Watchers, the Nephilim, the fallen
angels who led humankind astray through sexual perversion,
which occurred about 120 years later with the Flood of
Noah's days. To balance this out, here are some verses from
the Book of Revelation which also speak of the abyss or
bottomless pit, and describe the fate of those who rebel
against God:

"And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from
heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the
bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there
arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great
furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of
the smoke of the pit." (Revelation 9:1-2)

"And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the
bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon,
but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon." (Revelation

"And when they shall have finished their testimony, the
beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make
war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them."
(Revelation 11:7)

"The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall
ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and
they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were
not written in the book of life from the foundation of the
world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and
yet is." (Revelation 17:8)

"And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of
the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he
laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the
Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast
him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal
upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till
the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he
must be loosed a little season." (Revelation 20:1-3)

From reading the above verses, it should be noted that the
fate of Azazel, Semjaza and all of the rest of the
rebellious angels has already been decided. As stated in my
previous article, they have already been found guilty, but
their sentence hasn't been passed yet. In other words, it
appears that perhaps Azazel and his companions have been
locked up since the time of the Flood waiting for the final
Day of Judgment for their sentences to be fully carried out.
However, Satan, who is over them all, is still loose in this
world and will remain so until Christ's return, at which
time he will be bound for 1,000 years during the Millennium.
After this, he will be loosed for a short season, and
ultimately thrown into the same Lake of Fire described

So then, based on this understanding, it doesn't seem likely
that Jesus would have any reason to go to prison to preach
to these particular spirits. That leaves us with only one
possibility: he preached to the spirits or souls of the
HUMANS who were destroyed during Noah's flood...which of
course brings us right back to the basic question with which
this whole article began: Exactly how far will God extend
His mercy to save a soul? From what we have now seen, quite
far...even beyond the bounds of death. But is there even a
limit to this? It appears that there is. As stated in the
previous article, and now confirmed here, once Jesus died on
the cross and went to preach to the souls in prison, He had
bound up all of the loose ends. He had taken care of those
who had perished before the Flood. I would think it is also
safe to assume that He took care of those born after the
Flood as well...and we must remember that after the Flood,
beginning with Abraham, the Lord manifested Himself to the
people of the Earth in many ways as is evident by the many
miracles He did for the children of Israel. In short,
everyone who had lived before Jesus' time were probably
given the message of salvation during Jesus' preaching in
prison. Those who accepted and believed may have been a part
of those who arose during Jesus' own resurrection as
described in the verses I quoted from Matthew. I can't prove
any of this beyond a shadow of a doubt, but I do believe in
the absolute righteousness of God. I don't believe He would
condemn a sinner unfairly.

Hence, that only leaves one group of people: those of us who
have lived in the 2,000 years since Jesus walked the Earth.
Clearly, we are all without excuse. Thanks to the
faithfulness of the original disciples who travelled far and
wide, and the many faithful scribes who wrote down the
events of the first century, everyone has had an opportunity
to either receive or reject the message of salvation. Those
who have rejected it and adopted other false religions, have
done so of their own accord and volition. They will have to
answer for themselves. One thing is certain, as Jesus said:

"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the
world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end
come." (Matthew 24:14)

Jesus will not return until He is sure everyone who wants a
chance at salvation has been given it. It is in this context
that I believe we can apply the verse:

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this
the judgment:" (Hebrews 9:27)

For the past 2,000 years, humankind has been given ample
opportunity to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are
given our whole lives to decide. If we haven't done so,
whose fault is it but our own? Another verse which follows
this same line of thought is:

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the
world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that
are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they
are without excuse:" (Romans 1:20)

In my original quote which began this article, I said that
God will not be happy until He has saved as many as He can.
Nowhere do I say that ALL will be saved. As pointed out in
this and other of my Endtime articles, we know from
Scriptures that the Antichrist, the False Prophet and their
followers will be cast into the Lake of Fire which is the
Second Death. We also know that even after the Millennial
reign of Christ on Earth, there will still be those who
rebel against God's righteous rule. No matter how far God
goes to extend His mercy, there are and still will be those
who reject the Truth until the absolute end when both their
bodies and souls (spirits) will be completely destroyed in
the Lake of Fire.

Now as far as to the context of Matthew 7:13-14 which was
quoted at the beginning of this article, I believe that the
main point Jesus was trying to bring out here is that as
humanity goes, we more often than not make the wrong
decisions, including when it comes to the chance to choose
salvation. For those of us that are parents, we have to
allow our children to make a few bad decisions so that they
will come to see the light. I believe that God allows us to
do the same. But like human parents, He never gives up on
us completely as long as we have life. As the old saying
goes, 'As long as there is life, there is hope.' God is
always willing to receive us back into His arms once we have
seen the error of our ways and repent. Consider the story of
the Prodigal Son in Luke 15.

'Sure', you may say, 'But what about this whole concept of a
wide gate and a broad way that leads to destruction and many
which enter it, and the straight gate and narrow way which
leads to eternal life which few find? How do you explain
that?' I have no problem with it whatsover. It seems rather
illogical to me that Jesus would build this beautiful
humongous city called New Jerusalem just to have a 'few'
folks live in it. I think the problem here is in our own
concept of what Jesus meant by 'few'. We are temporal
creatures who for the most part don't expand our vision
beyond our own time period and our private little worlds.
Maybe some of us need to broaden our vision and try to see
things the way God does. In the Book of Revelation it says:

"And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the
light of it: and the kings of the Earth do bring their glory
and honour into it." (Revelation 21:4)

This verse clearly brings out that there will be entire
nations of SAVED people, and that there will be kings and
nations living outside of the Heavenly City, New Jerusalem.
Who are all these people? Bear in mind that this is the New
Heaven and Earth AFTER the Earth and atmosphere have been
purified and AFTER the Antichrist, False Prophet, Satan and
their followers have been cast into the Lake of Fire. This
is after the Millennium. These are all saved people. We
really have no idea exactly how many people this is, but in
comparison to how many BILLIONS of people who have lived on
the Earth since Adam and Eve, it must be relatively few,
maybe in the millions, I really don't know. Here is a verse
which gives us a clue:

"And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round
about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the
number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and
thousands of thousands;" (Revelation 5:11)

Perhaps I am wrong, but I just don't believe that a
righteous God would be happy until the absolute minimum is
cast into the Lake of Fire. If you would like to read
another clear example of how far God will extend His mercy
to save, read the story of Abraham, Lot and Sodom and
Gomorrah in Genesis chapters 18-19. It may surprise you to
see how Abraham questioned the righteousness of the Lord and
pleaded for the lives of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.
We must never ever forget that our God is a righteous God.
His judgments and rulings are much more fair than any court
you will ever find on Earth. There is another verse from
Revelation 5 which describes the throne of God. Consider the
usage of the word "every" and the extent of God's mercy and

"And EVERY creature which is in heaven, and on the earth,
and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and ALL
that are in them, heard I saying, Blessings and honour, and
glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne,
and unto the Lamb forever and ever." (Revelation 5:13

And here are a few more verses on this subject:

"For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee
shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God."
(Romans 14:11)

"That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things
in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;"
(Philippians 2:10)

These verses seem to be all inclusive. God will not be
completely happy until He has reconciled as much of creation
unto Himself as He possibly can, both human, animal and
spiritual. I have heard this referred to as Universal
Reconciliation. It seems to make a lot of sense to me.

And with that, I am going to bring this article to a close.
It has been long and interesting, and I hope some of you
have profitted by it in some way.

----- EXTRA GOODIES -----

Before closing , I would like to share with you a few extra
things which came to me as I was writing the above article.

If any of you happen to be into any forms of Eastern
religion which involve some sort of meditation, you might
want to stop and seriously consider the danger you are
placing yourself in when you sit in your lotus position and
start doing your breathing exercises! I am very serious
about this, folks! We are told that God BREATHED the breath
of life into Adam, right? Breathing involves a process of
taking something in, and exhaling something out. Well, when
you sit in your lotus position, do your chants and perform
your controlled breathing exercises, what are you doing?
Well for one thing, you are short-circuiting your brain of
necessary oxygen, which weakens your physical body. And,
just as I explained in another article, you are creating a
spiritual vacuum within yourself. You are opening up a
psychic or spiritual corridor. You are opening up your solar
plexus, what some believe is the seat of your spirit. As the
old saying goes, nature abhors a vacuum. When you create
that spiritual vacuum within yourself, you are inviting
something in. You just might 'breath in' something you
hadn't bargained for! If you are not protected by God's
spirit, it could be very serious business! Did that scare
you? GOOD! It was supposed to! <grin>

I don't know how many of you saw the movies 'Cocoon' and
'Cocoon II,' but I was reminded of them as I typed this
article. While most movies today are real time wasters,
there are some scattered here and there which do contain
interesting and inspiring messages for those who are in tune
with the Spirit to see them. In my view, these two movies
rank among them. It is almost like the writer of the novel
which inspired the movie, or someone somewhere in the
creation process was purposely trying to convey an important
message to us about life and death, resurrection, Heaven,
etc. This whole idea of our bodies being vehicles for our
soul/spirits as I explained in the above article, was
brought out very well in these two movies. Even the
appearance of the 'alien' (spiritual?) bodies presented in
the movies have some interesting parallels to descriptions
in the Bible and other works. Consider these examples of
various encounters or visions some of the prophets of old

"And above the firmament that was over their heads was the
likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone:
and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the
appearance of a man above upon it. And I saw as the colour
of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it,
from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the
appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the
appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about."
(Ezekiel 1:26-27)

"His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the
appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and
his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and
the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude."
(Daniel 10:6)

"His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white
as snow:" (Matthew 28:3)

"And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto
the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and
girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his
hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes
were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass,
as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound
of many waters." (Revelation 1:13-15)

"And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These
things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a
flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; (Revelation

If you read the book of Enoch, you will also find more
descriptions like these concerning The Watchers. Enoch also
tells us that when Noah was born, his eyes shone like the
sun. Are all of these verses just exaggerations which
developed over the millennia?...Or is there some truth to
them? Could it be that in those early days of humankind, the
spirit within certain individuals was so strong that it was
physically noticeable through their eyes, the windows of
their soul or spirit? It seems that even Moses had quite an
experience up on Mount Sinai. Consider what happened when he
came down with the tablets containing the commandments:

"And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai
with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he
came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin
of his face shone while he talked with him. And when Aaron
and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin
of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.
And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of
the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with
them. And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh:
and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken
with him in mount Sinai. And till Moses had done speaking
with them, he put a vail on his face. But when Moses went in
before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off,
until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the
children of Israel that which he was commanded. And the
children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of
Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face
again, until he went in to speak with him." (Exodus

Well folks, there's only few choices here that I can see:

1) Moses' spirit was supercharged from gazing directly upon
the Lord so that he eminated the Lord's glory, the Shekinah

2) Moses had a bad case of sunburn which somehow
made him glow. <oh really?>

3) The Lord's UFO must have had a nasty radiation
leak which made Moses a walking glowbug until the effect
wore off. <hmmm...possible!>

4) Moses was playing games and wearing a brass mask
<I doubt it!>

Well, whatever the case may be, one thing is for certain,
whatever these bodies consist of, whatever they look like,
we know from the Word that we will someday look just like
them. Consider this very interesting verse:

"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet
appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall
appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he
is." (1 John 3:2)

How's that for a promise from God's Word? Check out first

Paul had to say about the Resurrection and our spiritual
